S Club 7...the movie

S Club 7 have had two UK number ones in 2001

Hit British pop band S Club 7 have announced plans to star in their first movie.

The group, the brainchild of former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, is to start filming next spring in Canada.

The seven-piece act has notched up a string of successful singles and TV shows and recently won ITV1's Record of the Year for Don't Stop Movin'.

The film will be a musical comedy and will cost $10m (£7m), reports the Daily Variety magazine.

Success

The group first saw fame as a group of teenagers in a BBC TV series in April 1999, Miami 7, the adventures of seven friends working in a Miami hotel.

In June 1999 the group released their first single, Bring It All Back, which went straight to number one.

S Club's Rachel was voted world's second most sexy woman by FHM readers

In 2000 the group started work on their second TV series, LA7, which saw them move to Los Angeles.

The series went on to become a big hit on American TV.

The group won Best British Newcomer at the Brit Awards in March 2000 and hit the top spot in December with Never Had A Dream Come True, which saw profits going to the BBC's Children In Need charity.

They had two more number ones in 2001 with Don't Stop Movin' and their second Children In Need song, Have You Ever.

'Stupid'

The group hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons last March when three of their members were arrested for possessing cannabis.

Bradley McIntosh, Paul Cattermole and Jon Lee were found carrying the drug in London's West End.

They later apologised for the incident to their fans, saying they had been "stupid".

The four other members of the band are Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett.

Fuller was executive producer of the Spice Girls movie Spiceworld. (From BBC News) (posted by webmaster)

S Club dad on sex charges
Popular ... but S Club 7's wholesome image suffered after the band's lads were caught smoking pot

The father of S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole has been charged with sexually assaulting two young girls.

Gerald Cattermole, 50, faces one charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 16, and two of indecent assault.

Police sources said the girls, both 14, were S Club 7 fans who visited Cattermole’s house to try to get Paul’s autograph.

Cattermole was arrested at home in St Albans, Herts, after the girls went to police.

He has appeared before St Albans JPs, and is due in court again on November 23.

Pop star Paul, 24 — who is dating bandmate Hannah Spearritt — has been estranged from his dad for eight years.

A friend said: “Paul was told by his sister, who still keeps in touch with their dad. He is very sad about the whole situation.”

S Club 7 were hit by scandal in March when Paul, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh were caught smoking pot.

The Sun told last year how singer Rachel Stevens’ dad published a sex guide revealing where to find hookers. (from The Sun.co.uk) (posted by webmaster)
